Ongoing Events

These are events that occur weekly or bi-weekly, designed to build community and provide a consistent opportunity to engage with APIMEDA Programs and Services.

APIMEDA Community Time

Join in community to learn together, have fun, and make connections with folks from across campus.  All undergraduate and graduate students are welcome!  For Winter 2024, Community Time will be held on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Sixth College Lodge.  The Sixth College Lodge can be located on the street level of Kalediescope, across the street from the Sixth College Market.

Unwind the Grind

Mondays 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Formerly called the APIMEDA Community Forum, Unwind the Grind is meant to be a chance to chat and connect with staff over different ways to destress. This informal drop-in group is designed to talk about topics relevant to Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Desi American (APIMEDA) students at UCSD in a supportive and problem-solving atmosphere. It is an open and safe space to discuss identity-based topics as well as any other topics students may have in mind.

Finding time to talk about issues is not always easy, so this pro-active space is meant to give you the opportunity to explore destress strategies before you need them as well as provide you the opportunity to work through things as they arise. With the help of other students as well as the CAPS counselors, students are able to think about these issues and work on solutions together. It is common to discuss things such as career and academic success, family pressures, cultural identity, and relationships.

In Winter 2024, Unwind the Grind will be meeting in-person at the APIMEDA Programs & Services Office, located on the 2nd floor of Price Center West.

APIMEDA Grad Community Cafe

Even-week Fridays (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. PST.

Join fellow graduate students for support in writing, research, seeking out resources and/or get a break from the grad student grind.  These are structured as virtual writing sessions in the company of fellow graduate and professional students. Grad Cafe for Winter 2024 will be held at the APIMEDA Programs & Services Office located on the 2nd Floor of Price Center West.
